The city of Montréal is striving to stimulate the dynamism of the commercial artery that is Sainte-Catherine Street West through infrastructure reconstruction works. To this end, the Lab’s mission is to evaluate innovative approaches. The first and principal challenge lies in parking management. Given the redesign of available street parking, the optimisation of the parking offer will become a central issue, as will the dissemination of information.
This work will be conducted in collaboration with all partners involved and affected by the street’s reconstruction, as well as with sector users. The access to parking must not be a barrier to the street’s dynamism, but rather a key differentiator. In more general terms, Sainte-Catherine Street West will become a test bed for approaches which could be deployed throughout the city.
